Press release
Just a quick note, I’ve taken DemocraDeck offline.
It started as a fun, creative way to get people thinking about our local elections, and it worked. For a while. Unfortunately, the site was compromised. Someone figured out how to bypass the vote caps, and once that happened, it stopped being fair or useful.
It also wasn’t sitting right with me. The idea was never to make anyone look bad or stir up drama, just to bring attention to the people running for council in a more human, accessible way. When the system broke, I pulled the plug.
I’ve had good conversations with people, including candidates, since taking it down. And I want to be really clear:
If DemocraDeck caused harm or made anyone feel misrepresented, I’m genuinely sorry. That was never the goal.
The link has been removed, and the project is officially shelved. I still stand by the intent creative civic engagement matters. But it has to be done right, and this time, the tech didn’t hold.
Thanks to everyone who got involved, asked questions, voted, and even challenged it. I’ll probably do something like this again, just better, next time.
